Halifax Health Board Grant Opportunities

We’re looking for great ideas!

Project funding for 2013 will focus on the following four priority areas:
·       Health inequities
·       Mental health
·       Sense of belonging
·       Physical activity and Healthy eating

Halifax Community Health Board serves residents of Halifax peninsula and Fairview. Projects must take place in and serve residents of our area. Grants of up to $2,500 are available. Projects may be funded partially or in full.

Deadline for applications is 4:30 pm Friday May 3, 2013.
Late applications will not be accepted.
Halifax Community Health Board is accepting applications to the Community Development Fund from qualified non-profit and community based organizations.
 

FREE Self-management Workshop in HRM

Your Way to Wellness spring workshop schedule now available!
Do you have an ongoing health condition?
For example: arthritis, diabetes, COPD, depression, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, asthma or high blood pressure?
Join us for Your Way to Wellness!
This free workshop helps adults with chronic (ongoing) health conditions overcome daily challenges, take action and live a healthy life!
Groups meet weekly (2 ½ hours) for six weeks and are led by trained volunteers (most of whom have chronic conditions themselves).
Participants learn how to:

• Set goals and problem solve
• Improve communication with health care providers, family and friends
• Eat healthier and become more active
• Manage symptoms
• Make daily tasks easier
• Improve self-confidence
• Manage fear, anger and frustration

Capital Health Addiction and Mental Health Program

Join us for a six-week education group for family members, partners and close friends of those harmfully involved with drugs, alcohol and/or gambling.

Happy Spring, fellow gardeners!

Common Roots Urban Farm will have garden plots available to community organizations, groups, or any other individuals who may be interested. Individuals and groups who apply for the plot program are invited to sign up for as many as two plots at one time. Plots are 4’ x 12’ by 14” deep, and the seasonal fee is $30.00 per plot.

Plots are going fast, so hurry and sign up!
