Switch: Open Street Sunday

Switch: Open Street Sundays
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Sunday, June 9, 2013
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
As part of Bike Week, a 2km route on the Halifax peninsula will be closed to vehicular traffic from 10am to 3pm and open to walkers, runners, bikers, in-line skaters, strollers, and much more. Inspired by the growing number of successful “open street” type events hosted in cites across the globe, Switch is about promoting healthy and active living, in a fun and festive community-based atmosphere. This will be the second Switch in Halifax, with the hope of making it a regular occurrence.

The Switch volunteer organizing team is looking for community groups, local organizations, and/or interested individuals to help us activate the route. Last year we had many activities from yoga to zumba and we are hoping to have more great activities along the route this year. There will be three main activity areas: Agricola, the North Commons and Victoria Park / Bell Road.

Activate the Route
Please get in touch with us at as soon as possible and we can include you in our promotions.

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) has been a champion for mental health since 1918 and has played an important role in improving people’s understanding of mental health and mental illness. CMHA introduced Mental Health Week (MHW) in 1951 to raise awareness of mental illness in Canada. MHW today offers people practical ways to maintain and improve their mental health and support their recovery from mental illness.
