Changing Directions-Changing Lives: A mental health strategy for Canada

Putting mental health onto the national agenda is no small task. It will take everyone’s help to change Canada’s mental health system — individuals, employers and employees, schools and students, non-profit organizations and all levels of government.

Recently, the Mental Health Commission of Canada released Changing Directions, Changing Lives, the first mental health strategy for Canada. This is an important step forward for our country, as one in five Canadians will experience a mental health problem or illness every year, at a cost of more than $50 billion to our economy. We need action and support of the national strategy to help combat mental health problems and illness.

Take action to support mental health.

This is your opportunity to get more involved in making a difference in support of mental health in Canada. Take some time to read the strategy, send an email to your Minister of Health and encourage your friends and family to do the same.

Visit http://www.partnersformh.ca/act/influence-policy/mental-health-strategy to learn how you can take action to improve mental health for all Canadians. You can make a difference today in the lives of the one in five Canadians who live with mental health problems and illnesses.
