Where: 3524 Dutch Village Road, across from Dairy Queen in the Fairview United Church Hall
When: Saturday, October 22, November 12, 26 from 10:00 to 12:00
The program is for dads, male caregivers, uncles, grandfathers and children baby to 6 years of age. The program will be facilitated by a dad. A healthy snack will be provided, fun and interactive games and art activities, a circle time with book sharing and songs and a nutrition component. The last session will be a Rhythm & Rhyme session.

Multicultural Volunteer Tutor Training Workshop
Frontier College and Welcoming Communities is pleased to offer a Multicultural Volunteer Tutor Training Workshop.
March 26 / 27th, 2011

Workshop topics include:
• Reading & Writing with Children and Youth
• Adult Tutoring Techniques
• ESL Tutor Training
• Cross-cultural Awareness Training
Frontier College operates a variety of literacy programs in various Halifax and Dartmouth locations. We recruit, screen and train volunteers to tutor children, youth and adults in a variety of settings. We also help other community-based organizations set up and run literacy programs for their own participants. Frontier College is a volunteer-based organization and as such, we depend on our trained volunteers to help us reach those who are in need of our services.

Reading Tent Summer Launch

Place: At "The Wave" on the Halifax waterfront
Come help Frontier College celebrate their 110th birthday by sharing a Love of Books. Visit with special guests, play fun games, and pick up some freebies! Author Jane Baskwill will open the event by reading from her children's book "Touch the Earth".
Sine 1899 Frontier College has been leading the national call for literacy by helping millions of Canadians to read and write.
Time: 11 am to 3 pm
