The IncrEDIBLE Community Supper

Community suppers in schools, church basements and fire halls are a tradition in Nova Scotia. They bring neighbours together, raise funds for projects and serve delicious, home cooked food. Community suppers are also the perfect way to celebrate local food in February & early March.

It may be cold and snowy outside, but Nova Scotia offers a bounty of delicious food options from the fields, sea and kitchens all year long. Farmers, fishers and food artisans provide meats, dairy products, seafood, fruits and vegetables, baked goods and beverages. Select Nova Scotia is celebrating the winter harvest with An IncrEDIBLE February. There will be events throughout the month to showcase and indulge.

· Are fun, family-friendly events open to the community
· Are accessible and affordable if a fee is charged
· Feature items produced in Nova Scotia
· Use simple, seasonal recipes (check out the Strive for 5 Cookbook, Simply in Season or SelectNovaScotia.ca for inspiration)
· Not limited to supper, could be a breakfast, brunch or lunch
· Can be indoor or outdoor
· Occur during the month of February or early March

Select Nova Scotia will be conducting broad print, web advertising and radio promotions leading up to the month to promote local eating. If you choose to host an IncrEDIBLE Community Supper, it will be referenced and listed on SelectNovaScotia.ca. Select NS can also provide you with support and link you to resources for recipe ideas and suppliers. Posters to advertize the event will be provided. Digital copies will be available for download.

Select Nova Scotia is looking for Community Supper hosts from across the province. A limited number of $500 sponsorships to help cover costs of delivery and promotion are available. Select NS reserves the right to limit numbers or encourage collaboration if multiple applications are received from the same area.

Suppers are encouraged to partner and involve a number of community organizations such as schools, environment, farm and food groups, farmers markets, churches and service clubs. IncrEDIBLE Community Suppers can build on previously planned events.
