One in Five: Focus on mood disorders

This month, Oneinfive.ca is looking at mood disorders and the resources available for those living with these conditions. Mood Disorders are mental illnesses that can include inappropriate, exaggerated or a limited range of feelings. We all have times of feeling down and, at other times, experiencing significant happiness. However, people who are diagnosed with a mood disorder may experience these feelings on an extreme level or for excessively long periods. Two important and common mood disorders are bipolar disorder and major depression. With proper treatment and care, those suffering from mood disorders can overcome their symptoms and lead normal lives.

I hope you’ll visit Oneinfive.ca this and every month as we continue to profile a specific psychiatric practice, and thus give you the opportunity to hear directly from those working in the field and people directly affected by it and learn more about new developments in treatment and resources for those looking for help.

Sincerely,
Dr. Nicholas Delva
