Viewer's Choice voting now open!

Have you voted yet? The deadline for GANS’ 2011 Student Scholarship Video Challenge has passed, and the video entries are in. But the question remains, which of the five videos will earn the title of “Viewers’ Choice?”

Gambling Awareness Nova Scotia’s annual Student Scholarship Challenge encourages graduating Grade Twelve high school students to research and explore gambling issues relevant to youth. This year’s challenge invited students to debunk the common gambling myth, “it’s easy to make money playing poker.”

The videos are available for viewing on GANS’ facebook page. Public voting will determine the “Viewers’ Choice” top video selection. The video with the most Facebook ‘likes’ at the close of the

Judging Period (June 20, 2011, 9:00 a.m. AT) will be deemed the “Viewers’ Choice” top video selection, and the team who created it will receive a $2,000 Student Scholarship. GANS will also award a $2,000 “Judges’ Choice” scholarship; recipients of both will be announced in a later issue of Touchpoint.

Since the voting period opened 5 days ago, over 800 people have viewed and voted for their favourite video, and the number of GANS facebook friends has increased by over 1350%! Thank you to all participants for helping to raise awareness of the potential harm from gambling.
