Healing Hands Mental Health Association of Nova Scotia will be putting on a series of six (6) lectures on various mental health issues relating to school age children. The lectures will all be held on Saturdays (April 2, 9, 16, May 7, 14, and June 4, 2011) in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Bloomfield Centre, 2681 Agricola St., Halifax, NS.
The schedule of workshops is as follows:
April 2 — Dr. Stanley Kutcher, Psychiatrist with IWK Hospital — New Resources to Improve Youth Mental Health Services in Nova Scotia
April 9 — Ms. Carole Shirley, Psychologist with Roth Associates — Learning Disabilities: Identification and Remediation in School Going Children
April 16 — Dr. S.S Sodhi, Retired Dalhousie University Professor and Psychologist with Roth Associates — Making School Going Children Resilient: A Review of the Research
May 7 — Dr. Penny Corkum, Professor with the Dept. of Psychology, Dalhousie University — Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) in School Going Children: Identification and Remediation; Issues and Treatment
May 14 — Dr. Sabina Abidi, Psychiatrist with IWK Hospital — Depression in School Going Children
June 4 — Dr. Virginia Walford, Psychologist with Roth Associates — Grieving and Grief Therapy For School Going Children
